Stranding Museum
On the edge of the sea – in the framework of award-winning architecture and with atmospheric exhibitions – Strandingsmuseum St. George tells dramatic stories about the thousands of strandings on the dangerous west coast of Jutland and about the population's encounter with sailors from all over the world.
Follow the two English ships of the line, HMS St. George and HMS Defence, on their final voyage to the shipwrecks at Thorsminde on Christmas 1811, where around 1,400 people perished.
Get up close to life on board through the many finds from the wrecks – and experience St. George's impressive rudder in the tower.
Explore, listen, see and play your way through the museum from the top of the tower with panoramic views of the sea, fjord and city down to the marine archaeologist's adventurous universe, where you can play on the seabed without getting wet.
Also visit the museum shop and the outdoor maritime playground.
